About the role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at AdviniaCare Summit Commons in Providence, RI. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times. If you are mechanically inclined, can work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively, we encourage you to apply for this full-time, 40 hours/week, on-call rotation position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Recognize hazards to residents or staff safety and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment
- Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion
- Replace, repair, and purchase items according to facility policy and procedure
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs and document accurately
- Maintain weather protection against cold, heat, fire, and other hazards
- Supervise outside contractors
- Serve on-call for emergency and off-duty hours
- Perform errands and tasks as required
- Maintain upkeep of exterior of building and grounds in all weather conditions
- Other tasks assigned by managerial team
Requirements
- Long Term Care Experience Required
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- General background in repair and maintenance
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language
- Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism
- Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance areas
- Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel and handle residents based on their maturity level
- Ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing maintenance practices
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition
- Sufficient mechanical abilities to handle facility maintenance needs with little outside contract use
