About the role
The O-I Glass plant in Kalama, Washington is one of O-I’s newer, modern manufacturing facilities, featuring well-maintained operations and a strong commitment to safety and quality. We are seeking a Maintenance Apprentice (Journeyman) to help oversee all of the electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment and associated systems for the facility, grounds, and production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assists with maintenance and repairs to a variety of electro-mechanical equipment, including inspection equipment, batch house systems, forming machines, fans, air compressors, vacuum pumps, air conditioning systems, conveying, packaging, and warehouse.
- Helps team to ensure the proper functioning of the piping systems; air, heating, water, and drainage, electrical distribution, communication systems and the fire alarm system.
- Comply with all Safety Programs required by O-I Kalama.
- Performs routine, preventive, and emergency repairs, under any circumstance or environment, in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
- Learns precision equipment installations using the appropriate measuring devices.
- Calibrate and set-up measuring and inspection equipment throughout the plant.
- Develops skill with oxy-acetylene cutting, structural welding and pipe welding.
- Makes sound decisions during routine and emergency situations.
- Communicates effectively, verbally and in writing, any technical issues related to the pursuance of assigned tasks; written logs, work requests, and maintenance pass-down information.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in working with automated equipment.
- Safety-focused mindset with attention to detail.
- Prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and grow within the company.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Pay
The hourly wage for this position is $30.12.
