Maintainer (Electrical) [Day Shift: Sunday - Thursday]

About the role

Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to lighting, power, HVAC motors and motor controls, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of switches, breakers, panels, receptacles, lighting fixtures, dimmer systems, and other electrical apparatus
• Troubleshoot electrical shorts, motors, and motor controls
• Pipe bending and installing EMT, conduit, wire mold, and BX
• Maintain and clean electrical rooms, service rooms, and shop
• Other related duties

Requirements

• Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools, pipe bending, and circuitry
• Basic knowledge of national and New York City electrical codes
• Minimum 3 years of work experience with a licensed electrical contractor
• Work safely on ladders and scissor lifts, and the ability to work in high places
• High school or trade school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of Ohm's law and basic electrical circuitry

Pay

Starting pay rate: $25.9601 per hour. The advertised rate reflects the good faith minimum and maximum hourly rate for this role, set in accordance with established union rates provided by the economic agreement as negotiated by DC 37 and the City of New York, Office of Labor Relations. Incumbent rates may vary depending on seniority status or terms provided by the DC 37 Local 1503 and Museum collective bargaining agreement.

Location

At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum, defined as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
