MAINT MECH II/LICENSED

About the role

This position involves performing preventive maintenance tasks following established procedures. Duties may also include painting, varnishing, staining, wallpapering, and applying enamel to surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks as per established procedures
• Paint, varnish, stain, wallpaper, and apply enamel to surfaces using appropriate equipment and techniques
• May be required to drive as part of routine job duties
• Respond promptly to an on-call schedule if assigned
• Effectively prioritize work assignments and job requests
• Maintain knowledge of carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and mechanical systems and demonstrate a general skill level with power tools and equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2-3 years equivalent combination of education and experience in related area, with preference for trade school completion
• Unexpired Certified Health Care Physical Environment Worker or other facilities maintenance-related certification
• Unexpired, unsuspended driver’s license if required for driving as part of job duties
• Previous experience in plumbing, A/C, and electricity
• One to three years experience in a structured maintenance environment
• Previous experience in a hospital maintenance department preferred

Qualifications

• Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements
• Effectively communicates by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice
• Ability to work independently and produce quality work
• Ability to respond promptly to an on-call schedule if assigned
• Ability to effectively prioritize work assignments and job requests
• Ability to maintain knowledge of carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and mechanical systems and demonstrate a general skill level with power tools and equipment
• Ability to paint and wallpaper if required
