Mail Clerk/Carrier

$22/hrFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with headings

for sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Only include sections that have real specific content. We need to parse the posting. Key info: - Position Overview: "The person in this position performs a variety of clerical and manual work in processing, sorting and delivering mail." That's about the role. - General Statement: mission of Mail Services... Could be about role. - Duties and Responsibilities: list of duties. - Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills: list. - Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills: list. - The Successful Candidate Will: list of abilities/skills. - Position Special Requirements/Additional Information: schedule, driver's license, etc. - Benefits: "Our Benefits Package Includes Medical / Dental / Vision Retirement Tuition waiver Annual and sick leave Holiday pay" - Pay: Salary: "Mail Clerk I: $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications | Mail Clerk II: $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications". This includes "commensurate with experience" which is placeholder? The instruction: never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. For Pay, we have actual numbers $22 and $24 per hour, but also "commensurate with experience". The phrase "commensurate with experience" is filler? It's a qualifier but still indicates it's variable based on experience. The instruction says never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. It says "never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text". Does that mean if the content after heading is only filler, we should not include heading? But we have actual numbers plus filler. The content is not solely filler; we have specific numbers. So we can include Pay section with the salary info, maybe we can keep the phrase but it's okay? The instruction says "never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD")". It might mean if the section's content is just that filler, don't include. Since we have actual numbers, it's okay. - Schedule: "Schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm or 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, however, shift may vary depending on departmental need. An occasional 3-hour shift on Saturday may arise." That's specific schedule info. So we can include Schedule section. - Benefits: we have list. - Skills: The Successful Candidate Will list includes abilities: interact with range of people, communicate effectively, multitask, establish relations, work independently, work as part of team, shift duties, represent professionally. Those are skills/abilities. Could go under Skills section. - Qualifications: Required Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications could be combined under Qualifications section, or separate Required and Preferred? The instruction says use headings like Qualifications. We can put both required and preferred under Qualifications, maybe separate subheadings? But we only allowed headings as listed; we could still include
  • inside. We could separate required and preferred as separate
      with a preceding

indicating required vs preferred. That's okay. - Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities list. - About the role: Position Overview + General Statement maybe. We must not repeat job title as heading. No Job ID etc. We must remove boilerplate: contact info, EEO, legal, etc. Also remove navigation, etc. Also remove "Position Details Position Information Announcement Number STAFF - VA - 27110" etc. Also remove "If other, specify" etc. Also remove "Physical Demands" maybe? Not in allowed headings; we could drop or maybe include under Requirements? But we have no heading for Physical Demands; we could omit as not requested. The instruction: "Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones." So we could omit Physical Demands. We must preserve ALL substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep all substantive info from the posting, but we can omit boilerplate. However we must keep info like "Must possess a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles." That's substantive; we need to keep it somewhere. Could be under Requirements or Qualifications. Also "This search is open to one of two position levels dependent upon relevant experience of the candidate." That's substantive. Also "This position is not eligible for sponsorship." etc. Also "The final candidate selected for this position will be required to successfully pass a background check." Also "Nothing contained herein restricts Montana State University’s rights to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time." That's maybe boilerplate? It's a disclaimer; maybe considered boilerplate? It's not EEO but still a generic statement. Might be considered boilerplate; but it's substantive about job flexibility. The instruction: remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. This line is more like a disclaimer about duties assignment; could be considered legal boilerplate. Safer to drop? It's not explicitly listed as boilerplate but could be considered legal. I'd drop it to keep concise. Also "This job description should not be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements, but a general description of the job." That's also legal boilerplate; drop. Also "To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations." That's also boilerplate? Might be considered ADA statement; could be considered boilerplate. Might drop. Also "The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required." That's also generic. We need to keep substantive info: duties, qualifications, schedule, benefits, pay, driver's license, background check, sponsorship not eligible, position levels, etc. Now craft HTML. We'll have sections:

      About the role

The person in this position performs a variety of clerical and manual work in processing, sorting and delivering mail. The mission of Mail Services is to provide the University community with reliable, customer-focused, cost-effective service and to efficiently integrate with the U.S. Postal Service.

      Responsibilities

      • Provide cashiering assistance at the USPS Contract Station Customer Service Window (includes learning various service options, fee structures, mailing requirements and restrictions, and transport times).
      • Perform opening and closing procedures (including internal and external record keeping and deposits).
      • Process outbound campus mail (includes sorting by department charge number, weighing, determining charges, and metering mail).
      • Provide solid back-up assistance for mail delivery to campus departments via multiple pedestrian and driving routes (including loading and unloading sacks, trays, tubs, parcels, and bags of mail into and out of vehicles).

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • High school graduation or equivalent, plus progressively responsible related customer service experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
      • Demonstrated experience with postal rates, procedures, and services.
      • Demonstrated experience performing high-volume, detailed oriented work with a great deal of accuracy.
      • Demonstrated experience operating general office equipment (scales, bar code scanners, computers, and printers).

      Preferred:

      • Cashiering experience.
      • Postal and/or mail room experience.

      Skills

      • Successfully interact with a range of people with varied needs, both internal and external to the organization.
      • Communicate effectively with employees and the public both in person and over the phone.
      • Ability to multitask, performing required functions with short, inflexible timelines.
      • Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and the public.
      • Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
      • Routinely shift duties as required and represent Facilities Services and its programs to others in a professional and courteous manner.

      Benefits

      • Medical / Dental / Vision
      • Retirement
      • Tuition waiver
      • Annual and sick leave
      • Holiday pay

      Pay

      • Mail Clerk I: $22.00 per hour
      • Mail Clerk II: $24.00 per hour

Pay is commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

      Schedule

Schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm or 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, however, shift may vary depending on departmental need. An occasional 3‑hour shift on Saturday may arise.

We also need to include other substantive info: driver's license requirement, background check, sponsorship not eligible, position levels (two levels), etc. Where to put? Could be under Qualifications or Requirements. We have Qualifications section; we can add a

after lists: "Must possess a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles. If the successful candidate possesses a valid out‑of‑state driver’s license, they must obtain a valid Montana driver’s license within 60 days of hire." Also "This search is open to one of two position levels dependent upon relevant experience of the candidate." Also "This position is not eligible for sponsorship." Also "The final candidate selected for this position will be required to successfully pass a background check." We could add a

under Qualifications after the Preferred list, or create a separate section "Requirements"? But we already have Qualifications. Could add a subsection "Additional Requirements". But we must only use allowed headings; we could add a

inside Qualifications. Thus after Skills maybe we add a section "Requirements"? But we already have Qualifications; maybe better to rename Qualifications to "Requirements and Qualifications"? But we must stick to allowed headings; we can still use Qualifications heading and include all. Thus inside Qualifications we will have required, preferred, and then a

for additional requirements. Let's restructure Qualifications:

      Qualifications

      Required:

        ...

      Preferred:

        ...

      Additional requirements:

      • Must possess a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles.
      • If the successful candidate possesses a valid out‑of‑state driver’s license, they must obtain a valid Montana driver’s license within 60 days of hire.
      • This search is open to one of two position levels dependent upon relevant experience of the candidate.
      • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
      • The final candidate selected for this position will be required to successfully pass a background check.
