Mail Carrier

About the role

USPS CDS Rural Mail Carrier position available in the Old Forge, NY area. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid New York license, be able to lift 70 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and reside in the area.

Responsibilities

• Sorting mail in delivery sequence for 61 active boxes
• Loading mail and parcels in delivery sequence into delivery vehicle
• Delivering mail along an assigned 61-mile line-of-travel
• Dismounting if required to deliver parcels, Express mail, and other accountable mail items
• Performing other administrative duties

Requirements

• Valid New York driver's license
• Able to lift 70 lbs
• Reside in the area

Qualifications

• Minimum vehicle and insurance requirements: Applicant must furnish a vehicle meeting postal regulations and meet postal driving requirements
• One dependable vehicle with 120 cubic feet of usable load space for mail and parcels (Mini-Van, SUV, Truck with Camper Shell)
• $100,000/$500,000/$100,000 or $600,000 (CSL) of liability insurance for contract vehicle
• Applicant responsible for all vehicle maintenance, fuel, and insurance costs
• Vehicle reimbursement paid on top of hourly pay

Benefits

• Pay: $25.25/hour PLUS vehicle reimbursement ($90.37/day non-taxable reimbursement)
• Hours: Day shift - Work week is Monday - Saturday. Hiring for part-time including Saturdays and seasonal full-time coverage (January - April). 9:00am – 2:40pm (End time may vary based on completion of route and delivery of all mail and parcels)
• Employment begins: ASAP
• Rate of Pay and cash equivalent benefits exceed the requirements set by the Department of Labor Employment Standards Administration Wage and Hour Division
