Job Summary
Under the direction of the Radiologist, Director, and Manager performs diagnostic medical imaging by magnetic resonance including Cardiac MRI, Interoperative MRI or invasive procedures.

Essential Functions
- Performs magnetic resonance imaging examinations, including assessing situations and choosing appropriate course of action.
- Provides MR safety screening for 100% of patient/visitor/staff prior to entering MR room(s).
- Responds to changes in workload using time to departmental advantage.
- Conducts job duties in accordance with departmental standards.
- Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for the intended audience (patient, family member, or visitor).
- Produces quality images in a consistent manner.
- Serves as a resource to co-workers.
- Assesses for vein/site selection and initiates venipuncture per established standards; documents venipuncture site/contrast in RIS per established departmental guidelines.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cross sectional anatomy, MR anatomical landmarks, and ability to recognize abnormalities and alert radiologist as needed.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to coworkers in a professional and respectful manner to assure and promote a culture of safety.
- Maintains proficiency in the utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Observes established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Runs appropriate quality control procedures, evaluates results and makes appropriate corrections.
- Notifies supervisor when quality issues arise.
- Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working in any area of the hospital.
- Reports any problems which may affect the outcome of a patient's exam.
- Provides documentation as required by the profession and the department.
- Uses the Kronos time clock system accurately.
- Uses Hospital/Radiology system according to established policy, including inputting and retrieving information from HIS/Radiology information system, entering information correctly, recognizing and reporting computer malfunction, and providing training and direction to staff as necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Performs 3D workstation duties as prescribed by examination.
- Follows hospital and radiology policies: handles bio-hazardous waste appropriately, and follows safety and infection control policies.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Disposes of bio-hazardous trash properly without being told.
- Uses protective equipment as needed.
- Abides by dress code and wears ID badge always.
- Respects the confidentiality of patient results and uses discretion when discussing patient matters.
- Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous wastes per established guidelines.
- Maintains a safe, clean, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families/employees in accordance with hospital standards (clutter-free environment, minimal conversations and background noise, adheres to dress code).
- Reports risk management concerns.
- Assumes responsibility for completing all annual mandatory requirements: Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogen, Hazardous Communication, TB, Department Specific, Age Appropriate Care (for clinical staff only), Population Specific Care.

- Provides age-appropriate care to infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, demonstrating knowledge and skills of normal growth & development, assessing and interpreting age specific data to identify patient needs, utilizing communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses, involving family or significant other in decision making, and assessing population specific needs (i.e., language).
- Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury, including restraint care (initiating/evaluating alternatives to restraint, applying restraints consistent with approved procedure, monitoring and assessing patient's response, providing specified patient care on a timely basis, providing for trial release and removal of restraints as soon as possible).
- For licensed personnel: assesses patient for presence of pain on admission and during assessments/reassessments, incorporates patient's cultural/spiritual beliefs regarding pain into pain management plan, implements pain management techniques focusing on prevention rather than treatment, includes patient and/or family members in developing a pain management plan, and considers other methods of pain control (massage, repositioning, immobilization, music therapy).
- Is aware of abuse recognition criteria and incorporates it into assessments; reports signs of possible abuse/neglect to physician & Risk Management and recommends appropriate consultation (psychiatric, Social Work) for evaluation.
- Uses communication effectively with others, medical staff, co-workers and patients, consistently communicating ideas in a clear and succinct manner.
- Displays initiative and enthusiasm for non-routine and/or extra duties.
- Effectively serves as a resource person for department.
- Explains procedure to patient/family in understandable terms.
- Participates in continuing education: attends appropriate orientations, accumulates contact hours of continuing education per established ARRT guidelines, provides in-service as necessary, and provides documentation of current ARRT status.
- Attends meetings as required and participates in committees as directed, providing documentation of attendance at outside meetings.
- Explains procedures and provides information to customers, including purpose of procedure, special prep, what to expect, and approximate time required, inviting customers to ask questions or raise concerns, avoiding technical jargon and using lay terms, and securing patient's permission to continue before beginning procedures.
- Presents self professionally: wears ID badge above the waist with picture visible, follows dress code, limits conversation in presence of customers to specific work situation, avoids discussing internal hospital issues/personal problems/department conflicts/personal social activities in presence of customers, is publicly supportive of the organization, colleagues, and physicians, and avoids jokes/language/literature that could be construed as offensive.
- Maintains environment conducive to good customer relations: keeps work areas clean, orderly, and free of clutter and trash, removes soiled linens from patient area immediately, reports all maintenance needs for equipment/environmental deficiencies/safety concerns immediately, follows paging policy, controls noise level (door slamming, laughter, radios, loud talking), strives to understand and meet needs for cultural differences, and aids customers who appear lost or confused.
- Respects customer privacy and confidentiality: keeps curtains and/or door closed when performing procedures, knocks before entering doors or asks permission to enter curtained areas, makes sure patients who may be confused or being transported are covered with a sheet/blanket, assures patient privacy when taking personal/financial information by conducting such interviews in a private manner, keeps medical testing/financial/other personal information confidential and avoids discussing in public areas (elevators, hallways, etc.), avoids discussing customer's condition/finances/other personal matters with others not directly concerned, accesses only those charts that need to be accessed, and asks patients if they want family members or guests to leave when providing procedures or other services.
- Improves the waiting experience: greets customers and informs them of estimated length of wait, offers alternatives to long wait (hospital cafeteria, gift shop, rescheduling, etc.), informs customers of why they are waiting and what the next step in the process is, and offers comfort measures (beverages, blankets, magazines, etc.) to waiting customers when appropriate.
