About the Role
Setup and operate multiple pieces of equipment including: reamers, saws, milling machine, forming press, flattening press, drill press, punch press, and other machines in repetitive-type machining of various product components. Perform ordinary setups and adjustments.
Responsibilities
- Use multiple measuring devices such as tape measures, pie tapes, calipers, micrometers, and levels to produce a quality product within the tolerance of the manufacturing drawing.
- Read and interpret drawings and blueprints; produce quality parts accordingly.
- Follow directives of supervision and group leaders to assure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Perform machine setups and breakdowns including adjustments, die selection, and tool use.
- Apply knowledge in machining processes such as presses, benders, vertical mills, saws, and hand tools.
- Solve problems efficiently; address obstacles and adapt accordingly.
- Apply basic mathematic and geometry skills: interpret radius, rise, circumference, pi (3.14), bend lines, angles, and degrees.
- Adhere to 1st and 5th piece quality inspections.
- Follow and observe all safety rules and regulations and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Multi-task and continually prioritize tasks to be completed throughout the shift.
- Perform other related duties as prescribed by supervision.
- Follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
- Comply with all company rules, safety policies, and procedures.
- Perform daily Safety and Mechanical Power Press Inspection Record.
- Comply with safety and housekeeping rules.
- Work effectively to identify and resolve problems or issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience using multiple hand tools and measuring devices such as files, de-burring tools, pneumatic tools, wrenches, smart levels, tape measures, pie tapes, micrometers, calipers, and levels.
- Proficient in reading drawings and blueprints.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-starter and multi-task oriented.
Skills
- Basic mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and perform trigonometric and geometric calculations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to work in a team environment and participate, contribute, and support all team activities.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand for the entire shift.
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving machining equipment, moving mechanical parts, dirt, oil, grease, metal shavings, and fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud, with exposures ranging from 80db to more than 100db at certain times.
- Specified safety equipment shall be used at all times while operating equipment or performing tasks within this position.
- Shift and hours variable due to machine breakdowns and projects.
