Machinist II
Position Overview
As a Machinist II, you will set up, adjust, and operate Manual & CNC machine tools to manufacture and repair components to precise specifications. This role supports safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a regulated aerospace environment.
Flight & Product Safety
- Recognize and understand flight/product safety-critical parts and processes.
- Immediately report any flight or product safety concerns.
- Participate in proactive risk analysis activities related to safety-critical processes.
- Understand and operate within StandardAero’s Just Culture policy.
What You’ll Do
- Read and interpret blueprints, specification manuals, layouts, and work instructions to determine machining operations.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances; measure, lay out, and verify workpieces using precision instruments (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
- Set up and adjust Manual & CNC machine tools; troubleshoot and modify setups to meet required specifications.
- Inspect finished products to ensure conformance to technical requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the production cell.
- Cross-train in complementary skills and support production requirements.
- Support training and development of other technicians as needed.
- Follow all applicable safety requirements and report unsafe conditions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent formal training.
- Trade certification required.
- A minimum of 3 years of related machining experience.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) approximately 25% of the workday.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Must meet US Persons requirements per ITAR.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with high accuracy and precision.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods, metallurgy, and heat treating.
- Experience working with welding, hydraulics, electricity, or pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with production management systems and internal control processes.
- Strong mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate specialized technical information.
- Must meet US Persons requirements per ITAR.
