About the role
CNC Machinists are responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating various NC/CNC controlled lathes or machining centers to perform precise cutting tasks such as turning, boring, threading, contouring, milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, and angle and taper cuts.
Responsibilities
- Work from routings, process sheets, and blueprints.
- Use precision instruments to set up and inspect work.
- Aid in establishing program requirements.
- Make machine adjustments to correct deviations from program specifications.
- Note and report program problems and make adjustments where applicable.
- Recommend tooling arrangements, fixtures, operational sequences.
- Mount, secure, and align tooling, fixtures, platen, and work pieces.
- Help with set-up and instruct new or less qualified operators.
- Operate secondary machines or auxiliary operations when necessary.
Requirements
- Experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
- Solid knowledge of machine shop and CNC techniques.
- Two or more years of CNC turning experience.
- Solid background in shop math and blueprint reading.
- Experience using hoists and cranes.
- Personal tools and willingness to purchase tools as needed.
- Experience on large diameter vertical lathes is helpful.
- Ability to lift up to 38 lbs.
