About the role
As a CNC Machinist at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp., your primary responsibilities are to setup and run a CNC Lathe or Mill whether it's a new or proven part. You will also be responsible for setup sheet updates, Work cell scheduling, Tooling, Machine preventative maintenance and reporting your production and downtime and efficiency, along with being able to measure and inspect product to required dimensions per required inspection sheet.
Responsibilities
- Setup and run a CNC Lathe or Mill for new or proven parts
- Perform setup sheet updates
- Handle work cell scheduling
- Manage tooling
- Perform machine preventative maintenance
- Report production, downtime, and efficiency
- Measure and inspect product to required dimensions per inspection sheet at intervals noted on the inspection sheet
- Upload and download programs
- Handle Syteline posting
- Report scrap
- Follow job dispatch list
- Perform all work in accordance with the SPS (Superior Production System) system (training provided)
- Take full ownership of your workspace, working as safely and efficiently as possible
- Maintain elevated attention to detail
- Take action to ensure improvement in your work cell and on parts leaving your work cell
- Maintain a positive mental attitude and adapt to new situations, parts, machines, technology, and people
- Work closely with team members, supervision, and other departments to achieve production goals (e.g., heightened awareness for hot jobs moving to the next department)
- Communicate effectively with relevant personnel about problems, improvements, and what is working or not working in your work cell
- Train operators and share knowledge
- Maintain complete understanding of sound machining techniques, including ensuring tools are rigid and in sync, and all work holding is acceptable with limited risk of parts coming loose
- Be self-aware and willing to continuously improve skills and knowledge
- Cross-train in other work cells within the department
- Understand Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and work with Group leader to submit them
- Understand Mold tooling work orders (MTWOs) and work with group leaders to submit them
Qualifications
- CNC Machinist Level 1: Ability to take full ownership of your workspace
- CNC Machinist Level 2: Expanded skillset from workspace to the entire department; ability to take ownership of any cell within that department
- CNC Machinist Level 3: Expanded skillset from a specific department to any department; ability to take ownership of any cell in the company
