CNC Machinist - 3rd Shift

About the role
This classification requires the inspection of all types of machined parts, aircraft parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and installations, development parts and assemblies, vendor manufactured parts, materials, all types of tooling, master gages, master models, and development parts for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and interchangeability.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate all types of numerically controlled multi-axis drilling machines.
- Exercise a thorough knowledge of various types of machine control units and systems.
- Set up and operate machines to perform any operation within the capacity of the equipment.
- Mount holding fixtures and set up targets to worktables; position, align, and fasten parts in fixtures, chucks, or directly to work tables; mount drills to spindles.
- Load or activate control units, make required control settings, and align spindles to set-up targets using dial indicators as required.
- Make intermediate set-up changes as programmed.
- Select and hone cutting tools and cutters to specifications using safety precautions and tools specified.
- Select proper stylus and drills.
- Observe drilling process and watch for functional variations in machines or control units; notify supervision of malfunctions.
- Make periodic checks on parts to ensure dimensional accuracy in order to establish cutter change cycle.
- Verify new cutter accuracy by making comparison checks after drill changes.
- Set up and operate equipment to perform close tolerance conventional milling operations such as milling compound angles using holding fixtures, milling multiple angles using a rotary tool or dividing head, milling radii, keyway cutting, slotting, slabbing, etc.
- Machine various tooling jobs as required.
- Work from blueprints, sketches, and other authorized documents.
- Check own work for conformance to specifications.
- Use overhead cranes in conjunction with the work described.
- Use the necessary equipment, tools, and materials required to perform the work.
- Maintain good shop practice.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or eligible immigration status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) and 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- Typically requires a high school diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
- Experience setting up and operating various types of CNC milling machines.
- Experience performing measurements with precision measurement tools, such as gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, manufacturing outline sheets, etc.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with G&M codes, Macro programming, and editing processes.
Schedule
3rd Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 11:30 PM – 6:30 AM
Pay
The salary range for this role is $25.13/hr USD - $53.69/hr USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and any key skills.
