Machinist (Augusta, GA) - Austin Industrial (NUTR)

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments, and tools.
• Repair or produce parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements in support of plant maintenance operations.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
• Use precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches, and a variety of cutting tools.
• Fabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics, and composites.
• Properly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
• Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
• Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
• Track parts and jobs into CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Utilize and abide by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
• Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
• Perform work wearing personnel protective equipment, including but not limited to: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sandblast hoods, fire-resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
• Perform physical tasks requiring full range of mobility in upper and lower body, including reaching overhead, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs, and working at heights for extended periods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a machinist.
• Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.).
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements.
• Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.
• Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in an industrial setting preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check as a condition of employment.
