About the role
Machinist 1 positions are available in the Manufacturing Department at Daniel Defense. We seek individuals who can operate machines proficiently, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to a safe and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate machines and follow operator work instructions, SOPs, quality, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean work area and ensure all machines, tools, equipment, and surfaces are free from oil, grease, etc.
- Perform setup tasks and make adjustments to tools as needed.
- Clear and resolve machine alarms, including Automatic Tool Changer alarms.
- Troubleshoot machine issues affecting part production or quality.
- Inspect parts using precision instruments like micrometers, height gages, calipers, and indicators.
- Aid in process flow monitoring to meet production requirements.
- Train machine operators in assigned duties.
- Demonstrate commitment to and lead environmental health and safety principles, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.
- Contribute to Daniel Defense's values and standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, typically 2-4 years of manufacturing experience, or a combination of related education and experience.
- A two-year technical degree or approved apprenticeship in CNC milling or lathe operations is preferred.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, machine tool programming languages (G & M codes), and blueprint reading.
- Ability to interpret machine tool programming languages to anticipate machine actions, use "Distance to Go," and adjust feed rates and spindle speeds.
- Knowledge of metalworking tools, workholding, and common concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
- Teamwork and proactive cooperation with others are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to Daniel Defense's Company Values.
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, and bending throughout the workday.
- Exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery is expected.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by position and/or company policy.
Skills
- Proficiency in machine operation and maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine-related issues.
- Interpretation of machine tool programming languages.
- Use of precision measuring instruments.
- Teamwork and leadership skills.

Pay
