Responsibilities

  • Performs set up and operation of all Tool Room equipment and CNC machines to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts.
  • Fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, material and layout techniques.
  • Works to tolerances of .001%.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Sets up own machines to make parts and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plates, surface tables, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignments of assembly, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts as required.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems as required.
  • Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • One year of work experience or apprenticeship is required.
  • Knowledge of set up and operations of CNC machines is a plus.
  • Ability to weld is a plus.
  • Employee required to have their own tools.
  • Knowledge of English language.
  • May be required to follow other job-related instructions and perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Work with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

  • Physical Demands: Occasional standing, walking, sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear, taste, or smell.
  • Lifting and Moving: Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific Vision Abilities: Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

Hourly salary range: $31 - $39/hr.
