Machining and Welding Supervisor

Position Summary
JE Technology Solutions Inc. is seeking a Machining & Welding Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily operations across the machine shop and welding functions. This role is responsible for ensuring that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and in compliance with all quality and code requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the machining, welding and cutting areas. Assign work based on production priorities, employee skill level, and capacity. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members. Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Support employee engagement and maintain positive team morale.Production & Operations Management
Oversee machine shop and welding operations to ensure on-time and cost-effective production. Monitor workflow, resolve bottlenecks, and adjust staffing or priorities as needed. Ensure shop orders are executed in the correct sequence and meet production deadlines. Communicate production status, risks, and updates to the Plant Manager, and Manufacturing Technician Supervisor.Quality & Technical Oversight
Ensure all machining and welding work meets engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable codes/standards. Read and interpret blueprints, shop orders, and welding symbols to support production accuracy. Oversee weld quality and ensure adherence to established inspection and testing procedures. Develop and manage welding documentation and procedures, including Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs). Partner with Quality and Engineering to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.Safety & Compliance
Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements within the machine shop and welding areas. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of machinery and tools. Identify and address safety hazards proactively. Lead by example in maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.Equipment & Resource Management
Monitor the condition and performance of machines, tools, and equipment. Coordinate maintenance, repair, or replacement needs with the Plant Manager. Oversee proper handling and movement of materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes. Track and manage consumption of consumables (e.g., welding wire, gas, tooling) to align with budget expectations.Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with Engineering on scope of work, manufacturability, and process improvements. Support Production Planning by providing input on capacity, sequencing, and constraints. Coordinate with Assembly and other departments to ensure smooth production flow and handoffs.Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality, and equipment performance. Recommend and implement process improvements, standard work, and best practices. Support new product introductions and process changes.
Requirements
5–7+ years of experience in machining and welding within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a production setting.Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and equipment, Welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), Fabrication techniques and materials.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
Working knowledge of industry codes and standards related to welding and fabrication.
Experience with production scheduling, workflow management, and shop floor coordination.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Forklift and/or overhead crane experience preferred (or ability to become certified).
Available for work Onsite.
