About the role

The Operations Second Shift Machining Supervisor ensures production alignment with delivery requirements to meet customer ship dates by coordinating manufacturing job requirements, personnel, and capacity considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Second Shift Machining team, establish performance objectives, monitor goal fulfillment, and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Provide training, development, coaching, and discipline as needed.
  • Review weekly/daily production reports and advise management of anticipated constraints such as material shortages, capacity issues, engineering changes, or other limitations that may impact delivery.
  • Interact with Quality Assurance, Materials, Program Management, Planning, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Engineering to ensure smooth product movement through all operational processes.
  • Maintain and monitor job priorities, on-time delivery for each cell, production adherence, and efficiency.
  • Develop capabilities within the training matrix to support Cell Leads and the Manufacturing Manager, ensuring seamless product flow through Machining.
  • Foster teamwork within the Machining Team and broader organization.
  • Respond promptly to concerns, issues, and suggestions to maintain positive employee relations.
  • Communicate processes, standards, specifications, and technical data to meet manufacturing, FAA, and company quality requirements.
  • Contribute to teams such as Daily GEMBA, Machining HPT, and RTRT, working closely with the Planning team to support sales commitments and align production schedules.
  • Initiate, drive, and support continuous improvement activities to promote process improvements and efficiency gains.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (minimum education required).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in aerospace manufacturing and supervision.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data management via Excel, ERP, and other tools.
  • Ability to motivate and develop hourly employees.
  • Training and coaching skills.
  • Self-directed and capable of working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in policy and procedure development.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Knowledge of CNC Machining.

Physical Requirements

Work may require sitting and/or standing for up to 8 hours per day, as well as lifting.
