About the role
Benchmark located in Statham GA is currently seeking a lead CNC machinist to produce high precision parts utilizing established knowledge and experience with machine shop best practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support, Training and assistance to keep the CNC equipment, including lathes, mills, ;aser, saws and routers running
- Support reviewing new engineering releases and providing estimated run time and equipment selection
- Aid in troubleshooting any lathe and mill equipment and coordinating outside maintenance as needed
- Aid in material oversight, inventory and scrap
- Responsible for ensuring material is cut and provided timely
- Provide status update on job orders as requested
- Maintain tool crib
- Ensure secondary work is completed timely
- Reviewing new engineering releases and providing estimated run time and equipment selection
- Communicating with Manufacturing Manager on resource and tooling needs
- Troubleshooting all equipment
- Shared responsibility for ensuring material is cut and provided timely to weld
- Aid in distribution of Quality Checked Parts to Weld Team
- Provide status on customer job orders as requested
- Review QC Table for internal rework daily
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience or completion of a 1 or 2-year Tool Technology or related program
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams
- Familiarity with CNC set up, programming and running VMC machines, scales, calipers, micrometers and other tools used to check parts against drawings
- Familiarity with manual machining operations including mills, lathes and saws
- Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprint drawings
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to stay organized and ensure that the work area is clean, safe and orderly
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and be punctual and dependable
- Ability to work overtime when needed
- Ability to perform basic math (standard and metric) including working with and converting between fractions, and decimals
