Schedule

• Monday through Friday plus overtime/weekends
• 2nd Shift: 1:50 PM to 10:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Operate mixing machine to combine ingredients per designated formula and instructions.
• Place raw ingredients into mixer and final product into troughs.
• Perform housekeeping duties: scraping, sweeping, mopping floors, disposing of trash, and picking up product from floor.
• Record ingredient usage and log accurate numbers.
• Place product or scrap into designated color-coded containers.
• Visually identify acceptable or unacceptable product quality before and after mixing; remove unacceptable product.
• Accurately use measuring equipment to weigh and measure ingredients.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
• Verbally communicate instructions, problems, and updates to co-workers, supervisors, and employees from all departments.
• Clean inside and outside of mixer and utensils per established procedures.
• Check schedule to determine which dough is scheduled to run; select the correct mix sheet and ingredients.
• Visually inspect ingredients for defects and accurately weigh dough ingredients.
• Check accuracy of scales, meters, and thermometers.
• Record all lot numbers before mixing dough; ensure all lot numbers are on mix sheet at end of shift.
• Record dough times, temperatures, ingredient usage, and trough numbers.
• Maintain correct dough or filling temperature.
• Communicate all mix sheet changes to the next shift per supervisor’s instructions.
• Contact supervisor immediately if dough or filling is inconsistent with previous batches.
• Responsible for location of thermometer, scraper, and measuring cup at all times.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Meet company attendance standards for start and end times.
• Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations as prescribed by law and company policies.
• Comply with company rules, regulations, and policies.
• Perform other functions as assigned.

Requirements

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Remove dough or filling from mixers with a hoe.
• Reach with hands and arms throughout shift.
• Use hands and fingers continuously.
• See, hear, and talk effectively.
• Lift and carry up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
• Walk up to 400 yards to work areas.
• Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.
• Work in excess of 40 hours per week as needed.
• Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Stand for eight hours per shift.
• Perform repetitive reaching overhead, under, and across throughout shift.
• Push or pull items up to 2,600 lbs with assistance.
• Crawl under equipment to reach work areas as needed.
• Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping and mopping.
• Climb steps to and from work and break areas.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
• Work in a fast-paced environment in close proximity to others.
• Distinguish colors accurately.
• Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in various units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Work in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
• Perform repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting throughout shift.
• Work in wet, humid areas.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
• Work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
• Work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
• Work in high, precarious places and/or in outside weather conditions as required.
• Receptive to new ideas, concepts, and procedures.
• Receptive and responsive to constructive criticism.

Experience and Skills

• High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred.
• Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.
• Ability to measure and read scales and thermometers; understands units of measurement.
• Ability to read and follow detailed instructions.
