Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Overtime and weekend shifts possible
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Operate mixing machine to combine ingredients per designated formula and instructions
- Place raw ingredients into mixer and final product into troughs
- Visually identify acceptable or unacceptable product quality before and after mixing; remove unacceptable product
- Perform housekeeping duties: sweeping, mopping, scraping floors, disposing of trash, and picking up product from floor
- Record ingredient usage, dough times, temperatures, lot numbers, and trough numbers accurately
- Place product or scrap into designated color-coded containers
- Accurately use measuring equipment to weigh and measure ingredients
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times
- Verbally communicate instructions, problems, and mix sheet changes to co-workers, supervisors, and employees from all departments
- Clean inside and outside of mixer and utensils per established procedures
- Check schedule to determine which dough is scheduled to run
- Select the correct mix sheet and ingredients for the scheduled dough; visually check ingredients for defects
- Accurately weigh dough ingredients and check accuracy of scales, meters, and thermometers
- Record all lot numbers before mixing dough; ensure all lot numbers are on mix sheet at end of shift
- Maintain correct dough or filling temperature
- Communicate all mix sheet changes to the next shift as instructed by supervisor
- Contact supervisor immediately if dough or filling is inconsistent with previous batches
- Maintain possession of thermometer, scraper, and measuring cup at all times
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Meet company attendance standards for start and end times
- Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as company rules, policies, and regulations
- Perform other functions as assigned
Requirements
- Remove dough or filling from mixers with a hoe
- Reach with hands and arms throughout shift
- Use hands and fingers for repetitive tasks
- See, hear, and talk effectively
- Lift and carry up to 100 lbs with assistance
- Work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required
- Walk up to 400 yards to work areas
- Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems
- Work in excess of 40 hours per week as needed
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Stand for eight hours per shift
- Perform repetitive reaching overhead, under, and across throughout shift
- Push and pull items up to 2,600 lbs with assistance
- Crawl under equipment to reach work areas as needed
- Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping and mopping
- Climb steps to and from work and break areas
- Demonstrate good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks
- Work in a fast-paced environment in close proximity to others
- Distinguish colors
- Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in various units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Work in variable temperatures and weather conditions
- Perform repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting throughout shift
- Work in wet, humid areas
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization
- Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form
- Work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines
- Work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration
- Work in high, precarious places and/or in outside weather conditions as required
- Be receptive to new ideas, concepts, and procedures
- Be receptive and responsive to constructive criticism
Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
- Basic math and reading skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently
- Ability to measure and read scales and thermometers; understands units of measurement
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions
