Machine Operator – Cutting Room

About the role

The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola, IL, is seeking a Full Time Machine Operator to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Help off-load and label cut parts to appropriate table for manufacturing
• Hand cuts all product lines with proficiency as needed
• Operate the Forklift
• Knowledge of basic math
• Inspect material and product styles to make certain they correspond to the cutting ticket
• Spreads cloth on cutting tables using various manual and automated spreading machines
• Responsible for maintaining material and spreading quality standards
• Record material and time usage
• Maintain general operator asset care
• Operate the slicing and rewinding machine efficiently and safely
• Stage appropriate sliced materials
• Maintain the Material Room organization, housekeeping, and cleanliness

Requirements

• Reading, writing, and math skills commensurate with job duties
• Self-motivated
• Proficiency with Oracle, Excel, Word, and email
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions
• Ability to recognize colors and different styles of cloth styles
• Standing for 8 hours a day or longer during our busy season
• Must be able to work all mandatory overtime
• Physical Requirements: Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting
• Working at a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above

Qualifications
