About the Role

The Meridian Health Plaza (MHP) Family Medicine Clinic is seeking a personable and hard-working Medical Assistant. This position will work with a busy Family Medicine PA and also serve as an in-clinic float, supporting other MAs and providers in a collaborative workplace culture.

Our family medicine providers address diagnosed health concerns early, manage existing conditions, and support physical, mental, and social health across all ages and stages of life.

Responsibilities

• Support a busy PA and cover MA PTO, call-outs, in-basket tasks, and float to other providers as needed.
• Perform primary MA duties, including administering immunizations, completing child well visits, and assisting with minor procedures.
• Conduct phlebotomy, point-of-care (POC) testing, urinalysis (UAs), ear lavages, and manage tasks/orders in the inbox.
• Demonstrate strong customer service, follow-through, and critical thinking skills.
• Work effectively in a team environment with excellent communication and patient care.

An ideal candidate will have previous MA experience in family medicine or internal medicine and enjoy working with older adult patients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required at hire).
• MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following approved agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
• New Graduates:
  • MA certificate of completion from an accredited program or school.
  • Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months of MA experience (even with MA certification).
• Experienced Medical Assistants:
  • 1 year of MA experience OR current MA certification OR obtain/renew certification within 90 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network) required at hire.
• EMT and CNA certifications do not qualify for MA certification.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week, 5 - 8-hour days, Monday through Friday.
• Hours: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (start and end times may vary based on provider schedules and clinic needs).
