MA Cardiac Device Technician Boise Full-Time

About the Role

The Cardiac Device Technician takes responsibility for performing interrogations and device testing of internal cardiac devices including cardiac pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators, and loop recorder procedures according to protocol and professional standards.

The clinic offers educational opportunities with bi-weekly lunch and learns with providers and content experts, as well as online learning modules during orientation to help build your cardiac knowledge base. This clinic boasts a great team environment and friendly providers that encourage learning.

The Saint Alphonsus Heart Institute offers highly trained heart specialists who treat the most common to the most complex heart conditions. The Heart Institute features state-of-the-art Heart Centers in Boise and Nampa and provides outreach patient care to other cities and towns in the Treasure Valley.

Responsibilities

• Provide education to patients regarding manufacturer equipment and device knowledge.
• Competently care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as applicable.
• Support efficient clinic flow and communicate accurately and positively with team members.
• Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
• Interrogate and complete device testing of internal cardiac devices per competency guidelines.
• Upload all interrogation and device testing reports to the EHR per competency guidelines.
• Monitor and create remote download reports for physicians through competency guidelines.
• Review accuracy of downloaded device information, edit the information, and enter it into manufacturer sites and the EHR systems.
• Complete all required didactic and competency training upon hire and annually.
• Schedule patients for appointments appropriately.
• Develop systems to maintain readiness for all audits (FDA, DNV, CMS, etc.) utilizing tools like Smartsheets and Tableau.
• Ownership of high-risk FDA device recalls and follow-up.
• May be required to travel between clinics.

Requirements

• Must be a Medical Assistant – OR – possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience. MA certification required from one of the following SAHS approved agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Understanding of EKGs, external and internal cardiac monitors, pacemakers, and defibrillators required.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS.

Schedule

40 hours a week - 5 - 8 hour shifts, Mondays - Fridays. Around the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm.
