Responsibilities

• Prioritizing and assisting in patient triage
• Preparing and assisting with patient examinations and procedures
• Administering medications
• Performing wound care
• Drawing blood
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
• Initiating venipuncture and IV access
• Providing patient education
• Ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards

Requirements

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date
• Two (2) years LVN experience in a similar role and setting
• Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics

Qualifications

• Strong clinical judgment
• The ability to prioritize critical demands
• Effective teamwork in a dynamic care setting
• Proficient and comfortable with electronic charting
• Skilled in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens
• Knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs, emergency procedures, and of basic lab and infection control procedures; standard items used to stock exam rooms
• Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians
• General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs
• Proven ability to serve as a resource and effectively lead and mentor teams
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment

Skills

• Knowledge of Intravenous Therapy (LVN IV)
• Certification in Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
• ACLS and/or ART
• Experience in Express Care or Urgent Care
• Point of Care testing experience
• Ambulatory experience
• Procedure experience
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting
• Wound care/suture removal/dressing skills

Pay

Hiring Pay Scale: $35.91 - $44.65 / Hour
