About the role

The RN/LVN Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising nursing activities during their shift, ensuring quality resident care, and managing staff assignments based on qualifications and facility layout.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee total nursing care of residents and recognize significant changes in their condition.
  • Assign aides, ensure proper administration of medications and treatments per doctor’s orders, and conduct regular rounds using Resident Assessment and Care Plans.
  • Supervise documentation, including charting and incident reports, and verify medication inventories.
  • Coordinate with physicians, update care plans, and respond professionally to resident and family needs.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, safety standards, and legal requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduation from an approved nursing program and current licensure as RN or LVN.
  • Ability to assume personnel charge, good judgment, teamwork, and awareness of resident needs.
  • Knowledge of medication procedures, facility policies, and federal/state regulations.
