About the role

This position is available in HDR's St. Louis Park office.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a variety of project tasks including but not limited to evaluating, defining, and reviewing customer needs and ensuring those requirements are met within the project design.
  • Develop project-related construction documents such as SD, DD, and CD to show design intent, project specifications, and assist with system-related activities within all construction administration (CA) activities.
  • Coordinate with integrated, multidisciplinary project teams to develop functional requirements, system designs, and other project-related requirements.
  • Develop alternative system design concepts, feasibility, and trade-off studies and value-added engineering when required for projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry product offerings and research new emerging technologies.
  • Assist in problem resolution and technical troubleshooting when field support is needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong general engineering knowledge of either the telecommunications (horizontal/backbone cabling and pathways) or electronic security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection).
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks independently, on schedule, and under budget.
  • Ability to produce drafting and documentation.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Desire for continuous learning and professional advancement (EIT/PE certifications/licensure).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A “can-do” and problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong computer skills and a proficiency or ability to work in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A strong desire for continuous learning and professional education.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
