Our OSB plant in Gladys, VA is seeking a detail-oriented Lube Technician who thrives in a team environment and is willing to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
About the role
Georgia-Pacific’s Gladys, Virginia facility manufactures Oriented Strand Board (OSB), a widely used wood product for residential construction. The plant operates in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform lubrication of equipment assets and maintain the lube room, equipment, and storage
- Work with site personnel to ensure all equipment assets receive the correct lubricant types, quantities, and intervals
- Collaborate with reliability and planning groups to establish a preventive maintenance (PM) system for lubrication
- Facilitate knowledge sharing related to the lubrication program
- Responsible for annual lubrication audit results and action plans
- Train site personnel who perform lubrication tasks
- Work with the reliability team to optimize standard maintenance procedures (SMPs) and PM procedures
- Use MOE and MP2 to create value-added work requests and prioritize work assignments
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) processes
- Maintain auto lube systems
- Conduct weekly lube inventory and coordinate ordering of needed components
- Work with Reliability personnel to set up a lubrication analysis program, conduct oil sampling, and document results
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to ensure quality equipment repairs and maintenance
- Demonstrate initiative in completing scheduled jobs
- Obtain Machinery Lubrication Technician 1 (MLT-1) certification within one year
- Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally sound work environment, including housekeeping
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
- One (1) year or more of industrial maintenance experience OR training in the maintenance field
- Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Associate’s Degree or certificate in a maintenance-related field
- Experience in a maintenance or lubrication technician role
- Experience analyzing equipment component failures, troubleshooting, and recommending preventive maintenance improvements
- MLT-1 certification
Pay
Expected compensation range for this position is $22.00–$26.00 per hour. Pay rates may vary based on individual qualifications and contribution levels. Employees may also be eligible for variable pay, provided as a monetary bonus based on performance metrics and production targets.
