About the Role

The Lube Assistant Manager oversees quality, customer relations, facility maintenance, employee development, training, coaching, purchasing, and cost controls for the oil and lube department at our Full Service locations. The ideal candidate anticipates customer needs, builds relationships, ensures safety, and maximizes sales with strong upselling skills. This role requires adaptability to transitional weather conditions and the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise operations of the oil and lube department.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Site Operations Team.
  • Execute departmental open and close duties following designated procedures.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ensure a safe environment for employees and customers by complying with safety procedures and reporting issues.
  • Maintain quality control factors related to customer experience, products, services, scheduling, and labor cost control.
  • Interview, hire, train, and develop Lube Technicians, setting clear expectations and providing feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, peers, and management.
  • Motivate Lube Technicians to complete tasks efficiently and ensure proper customer care.
  • Facilitate and assess damage claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Delegate authority to employees when appropriate.
  • Support company initiatives, including marketing, promotions, sales, customer service, and talent management.
  • Work a flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain a spotless and organized property.
  • Drain and change oil in vehicles, following safe-handling procedures for disposal.
  • Top off vehicle fluids, including transmission and windshield wiper fluid.
  • Assist customers with requests to enhance their experience.
  • Inspect vehicles to determine maintenance and repair needs.
  • Replace various types of filters.
  • Follow safety protocols for working in the repair shop and driving vehicles.
  • Fill out work order forms and communicate completed tasks with customers.

Requirements

  • 1.5 to 2 years of management experience required.
  • Car wash, retail, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Strong background in sales and customer service, with a focus on membership-based models preferred.
  • Technical automotive training.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience leading and developing a team in a high-sales environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Hands-on, results-driven mindset with a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment, post-offer criminal background check.
  • Ability to transfer to other locations within the designated district.

Pay

The hourly rate during management training will range from $XX.XX to $XX.XX, before transitioning to a non-exempt salaried role at the equivalent annualized salary. The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on relevant experience.
