LPN Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide general nursing care services within the legal scope of nursing practice and standards developed by the profession, Nurse Practice Act, and regulatory agencies
  • Use professional nursing processes, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while carrying out nursing responsibilities
  • Assess health care needs of clients through a variety of routine interdisciplinary assessments, and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing and health care plans accordingly
  • Manage LPN staff team
  • Create and manage LPN work schedule
  • Provide coverage for all open LPN shifts
  • Conduct staff meetings
  • Provide regular individual supervision for LPN staff as appropriate
  • Evaluate, coach, and provide corrective action plans to assure LPN staff meet job performance standards and reviews all disciplinary action with Director of Nursing prior to instituting
  • Respond to emergency health care needs of the clients
  • Perform health screenings of clients
  • Collect and record data specific to the health status of clients
  • Collaborate to develop nursing guidelines/protocols for medical and health care needs
  • Monitor and clinically directs special programs such as infection control and medication management
  • Participates in interdisciplinary planning meetings and recommends changes in nursing and health care programs and/or in the care of clients
  • Provides health care instruction and information to individuals and staff relating to the promotion of health and wellness
  • Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings

  • Ability to carry out instruction and accurately document medical information
  • Ability to work and communicate with others
  • Ability to develop rapport with men and women who may have substance abuse, mental health and/or health issues
  • Ability to apply organizational management skills and maintain self and resident discipline
  • Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation
  • Ability to comply with state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularity Required: Sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally Required: Stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

SCHEDULING NEEDS

  • M-F 3pm-11:30pm, and weekend coverage during shift openings, if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently licensed in Virginia as an LPN for at least three years
  • Minimum of two years experience in addictions/psychiatric nursing
  • Supervisory experience
