LPN – Responsibilities

• Set up, administer, monitor, and chart oral, intramuscular and other medications and treatments.
• Observe residents for changes in physical and/or emotional condition, inform the supervising Registered Nurse, chart observations, and notify families when conditions change.
• Perform and chart residents' blood pressure, temperature, blood sugar, pulse, and respiration.
• Converse with patients to assure comfort, explain therapies, treatments, medications, and changes; answer residents' requests for assistance.
• Answer questions from family members.
• Reassure and provide emotional support to residents.
• Take and record physicians' telephone medical orders.
• Chart nutritional intake, bowel movements, fluid intake/output, and other resident activities such as leaving the facility.
• Report needs or changes to other facility departments (maintenance, dietary, housekeeping, laundry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, beautician).
• Assist in maintaining supplies and medication inventories.
• Maintain knowledge of nursing principles, methods, standards, and health‑care, sanitation, hygiene, and medical treatment.
• Attend care conferences, in‑service training, and staff and facility meetings.
• Direct visitors.
• Monitor alarm system for wandering residents and redirect them as needed.

LPN – Requirements

• Prior practical nursing experience, preferably in an institutional setting, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good oral and written communication abilities.
• Computer literate.

RN – Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents for response to treatments and medications; monitor vital signs; report changes to physicians; obtain and implement physicians' orders.
• Supervise work performance of subordinate nursing staff for proper technique and use of equipment, materials, and supplies; prepare written evaluations; conduct new employee orientation.
• Maintain complete and accurate resident charts for treatments, medications, etc.
• Administer medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intradermally, rectally, and intravenously; administer intravenous fluids.
• Prepare and implement resident care plans.
• Converse with residents to assure comfort, explain therapies, treatments, medications, and changes; answer residents' requests for assistance.
• Answer questions and complaints from family members.
• Reassure and provide emotional support to residents.
• Accompany physicians during rounds.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, in‑service training, and continuing education.
• Order medications, supplies, and materials.
• Know and practice the safety policies of the County; perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.

RN – Requirements

• One to two years nursing experience, preferably in a long‑term care facility, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
