About the role
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Health, Wellness & Nursing, Pupil Services Chief, and the Supt./Receiver. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with the school nurse and building administrator to whom assigned.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with School Personnel to maintain a healthful school environment
- Collaborates with school nurses to coordinate state-mandated screening programs
- Coordinates and participates in all aspects of the district's screening program
- Participates in and supports the district's response to communicable diseases such as the Flu, RSV, and COVID-19
- Maintains up-to-date school records
- Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to administer medications and treatments, as ordered, and in keeping with school policy on the administration of medication and special procedures in school
- Provides medically prescribed interventions, including caring for ill or injured children on a daily basis
- Maintains accurate electronic SNAP records of medications/treatments/procedures as administered to student(s)
- Electronically documents health-related activities and treatments daily as appropriate
- Maintains screening and medical equipment, and supplies to ensure proper functioning storage and availability for intended use
- Acts as a resource in health education to school personnel, students, and families
- Uses community resources for referral of students with unmet health needs, including screening referrals and the need for a primary care provider
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing Program approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in pediatrics, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing settings
- CPR Certified
- A driver’s License and own transportation are Required

- Strong Written And verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills
