About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides skilled nursing care and administers medications to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role involves participating in the nursing process, giving direct care, administering medications, and contributing to the patient's care plan.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the nursing process, including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s plan of care.
  • Administers medications and treatments within scope, using appropriate medical equipment.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of the patient’s response to nursing interventions and communicates findings to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Recognizes and reports significant changes in the patient's condition and collaborates with the healthcare team to revise the plan of care.
  • Performs patient data collection and observation, documenting objective and subjective data according to hospital charting guidelines.
  • Delegates delegable nursing tasks in accordance with local State Board of Nursing Administrative Code.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures, practices infection control, and complies with HIPAA and OSHA policies.

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the state of employment.
  • BLS Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Additional certifications may be required for certain specialties (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP).
  • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with passing grade on exam (required for Telemetry/Remote Telemetry units).
  • 1 year of clinical patient care experience in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice (preferred).
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred).
