About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The primary function is to provide skilled nursing care and administer medications to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the nursing process, including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s plan of care.
  • Administers medications and treatments as directed by a licensed professional, using appropriate medical equipment.
  • Contributes to the plan of care with input from patient/family and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Collects and documents patient data, including observations and responses to interventions.
  • Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions and revises the plan of care accordingly.
  • Recognizes and reports significant changes in the patient's condition.
  • Delegates tasks to other staff members as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the state of employment.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on the specialty area.
  • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with a passing grade.
  • Experience in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice preferred.
  • EPIC EHR training preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: None required.
  • Work Experience: 1 year of clinical patient care experience in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice.
  • Training: EPIC EHR training preferred.
