About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The primary function is to provide skilled nursing care and administer medications to patients.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the nursing process, including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s plan of care.
- Administers medications and treatments as directed by a licensed professional, using appropriate medical equipment.
- Contributes to the plan of care with input from patient/family and other members of the healthcare team.
- Collects and documents patient data, including observations and responses to interventions.
- Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions and revises the plan of care accordingly.
- Recognizes and reports significant changes in the patient's condition.
- Delegates tasks to other staff members as appropriate.
Requirements
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the state of employment.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on the specialty area.
- Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with a passing grade.
- Experience in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice preferred.
- EPIC EHR training preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: None required.
- Work Experience: 1 year of clinical patient care experience in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice.
- Training: EPIC EHR training preferred.
