LPN - Practical Nurse - Acute Care Telemetry Unit
About the role
The Inpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care, addressing physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs. They contribute to assessments, reinforce patient and family education, and participate in discharge planning. The LPN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, evaluates nursing interventions, and ensures safe, compassionate care. They also mentor new staff and students, participate in evidence-based practice decisions, and support unit operations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies following policies.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions based on patient response.
- Collaborate proactively with healthcare team members to meet patient needs.
- Participate in unit decision-making and performance appraisals.
- Precept and mentor new staff and students.
Qualifications & Skills
Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing, with strong communication, teamwork, and assessment skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, demonstrating compassionate patient care and adherence to policies.
Schedule
Typically performs in a clinical setting with shifts from 7p-7:30a, including every other weekend and holiday. The unit includes private rooms, some negative pressure, and patients with diverse medical conditions.
