Behavioral Health Crisis Center
The Behavioral Health Crisis Center is strategically located in Mobile County, serving the midtown/downtown area with high demand for mental health services. It operates 24/7/365, providing crisis de-escalation and resolution for individuals in need.
Responsibilities
- Completion of the admission process for consumers, including Medical Checklist/Physical Health/Nutritional screening, Medication List, Medication Administration Record, vital signs, height/weight, transcribing physician orders, AIMS, and admission notes.
- Observes consumers' behavior in groups and activities, documents observations in consumer records, interacts with consumers, and evaluates needs to ensure proper information is reported.
- Directs behavioral staff, CNA, Mental Health Technician as needed. Assists consumers with personal care issues (bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene routines).
- Administers medications, observes the Six Rights of medication administration, provides medication education, and communicates effectively with the physician regarding the consumer's physical and mental condition.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize crisis states and de-escalate or resolve situations. Effectively uses seclusion and restraints per AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
- Performs hand-off communication at shift change, adheres to professional code of ethics, and performs additional duties as assigned.
- Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs, follows AltaPointe Policy & Procedures, maintains current State license and requirements for renewals, and attends to required in-services and workshops.

Qualifications
- Possesses current LPN license to practice in the state of Alabama.
- Knowledge in child/adolescent or adult specialties, outlined below, to be attained within six (6) months of employment.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult and child populations.
- Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing care.
- Knowledge of growth and development of individuals as related to all intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of their development.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology in psychiatric care.
- Familiarity of psycho-pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with the adult populations.
- Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice.
- Knowledge of instruction, teaching tools, educational methods appropriate for adult populations.
- Knowledge of family dynamics.
- Knowledge of effects and treatment of physical/sexual/emotional abuse and neglect issues.
- Knowledge of cultural diversity.
