About the role

As the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide direct patient care, meeting both the psychological and physical needs of patients and families. You will practice within the scope of practice in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, administer medications, and perform procedures per clinician orders. You will contribute to the continuity and quality of patient care while fostering the best interest and well-being of patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Function within a designated clinical team
  • Obtain and document relevant patient information regarding health status; intervene within scope of practice and escalate issues to the appropriate provider
  • Provide standard patient education under the direction of an established documented plan of care
  • Obtain vital signs and other department-based testing
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed and in accordance with organizational policy and procedures
  • Document all patient care activities, observations, actions, and patient outcomes in electronic patient medical records within the established organizational timeframe
  • Explain procedures to patients to facilitate understanding
  • Perform the necessary set-up for examinations and procedures available to support the clinician and patient
  • Communicate pertinent information to relevant members of the health care team verbally and/or through the medical record while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Under established protocols or specific clinician direction, communicate with patients or family regarding specific test results or follow-up plans
  • Administer medications proficiently via IM, SC, ID, and nebulizer routes
  • Maintain proficiencies in role-specific procedures as defined in organizational LPN competencies
  • Participate in organizational and departmental process improvement activities
  • Participate in emergency procedures
  • Provide exceptional service to patients, families, and other staff members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduate from a state-approved school of practical nursing
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Ability to use all electronic tools and applications relevant to the performance of the duties of the position, including but not limited to phone, keyboard, computer, and computer applications

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of nursing experience (preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty (preferred)
  • Experience with an electronic medical records system (preferred)
  • Pediatric experience (preferred)

Schedule

Standard hours: 11 hours per week on weekends. Saturday 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Sunday 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Pay

The hourly pay for this role will range from $20 - $36 per hour based on full-time employment, depending on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
