LPN OR Technician / Operating Room Technician

Qualifications

• Education/Skills Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a surgical technology school with certification obtained within 12 months from graduation OR a currently Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
• Mets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical.
• Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with PC operation is preferred.
• Must be able to take call as scheduled.
• Must be self-motivated and technically adept.
• Able to work independently under stressful conditions.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods.
• AHA-BLS Certified is required or obtain within six months of hire or current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to renewal date.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Proof of 15 hours of continuing education yearly.

Skills

• Technically adept by handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary before, during and after the surgical procedure.
• Primary scrub person and acts as a primary scrub person and must be technically adept.
• May also circulate under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, have excellent adaptation and coping skills, have excellent organizational skills and be a team player.
• Able to lift patient and equipment with assistance of other personnel or without as need dictates.
• Excellent communication skills and always maintains asepsis.
• Assist directly with the orientation, training and serve as a mentor for new ORTs.
• Assists in education of all ORTs.
• Competent in basic skills of an Endo Tech to be able to float between Main Campus and ASC Endo as needed.
• Work primarily at CVPH main campus with assignments to Ambulatory Surgery Center.
