About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in our hospital, providing skilled nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This position integrates the hospital's core values into daily practice and supports the mission of transforming lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides skilled nursing care to patients as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Implements orders for medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with the nursing care plan.
  • Communicates with the Registered Nurse to develop an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and seeks guidance when necessary.
  • Reports to the supervisor on patient care rendered, problems, and their resolutions.
  • Identifies patient problems and potential risks, contributing to the development of interventions.
  • Aids in identifying patient learning needs and reinforcing self-care techniques.
  • Accurately designates applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital’s established system.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Assesses risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
  • Complies with safety and infection prevention standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in an inpatient hospital setting, with inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice and infection prevention standards.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure compliance with state and accrediting agencies' regulations.
  • Understanding of clinical operations and procedures, and the ability to apply policies, procedures, and guidelines effectively.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Confidentiality and teamwork skills.
