About the role

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Alexandria focuses on helping adults and seniors manage mental health issues like anxiety and depression through various inpatient and outpatient treatments.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality nursing care to assigned patients
• Accurately documents findings and communicates with other healthcare providers
• Implements nursing care interventions and administers medications safely
• Assists with patient care, including wound care and ADLs
• Communicates with other disciplines to ensure continuity of care
• Transcribes orders and audits charts according to facility guidelines
• Guides and educates new staff members

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse in the state of employment
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred
• Must be able to work in high-stress environments and assess potential patient escalations
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Sensitivity to serving culturally diverse and special needs populations
• Self-confidence and ability to lead and direct others
• Successful completion of CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program

• Ability to cope with high stress and handle unpredictable patient behavior
• Understanding of normal physical and emotional development
• Critical thinking abilities for continuous improvement of patient care
