LPN - Inpatient Senior Progressive Care Unit

Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital, 3 Lacks is a 32-bed private acute care unit serving patients aged 65 and older. It is a high-acuity unit that frequently accommodates patients requiring telemetry, cardiac drips, high-flow oxygen, bi-pap, and other advanced medical interventions.

What You Will Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program
- Current Practical Nurse license in the State of Michigan
- CPR or BLS Certification
What You Will Do
- Assists with the initial and ongoing assessment of assigned patients through observation and data collection, as delegated by the RN
- Performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including but not limited to:
- Venipuncture for specimens including blood cultures
- Initiates and discontinues intravenous, i.e., peripheral short catheters
- Inserts and discontinues indwelling and intermittent clean urinary catheterization
- Obtains laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory procedures, i.e., point-of-care blood glucose, stool sampling, sputum collection, etc.
- Performs basic bedside care and selected procedures under the supervision of the RN: 12-lead ECG; dressing changes; routine respiratory care (i.e. coughing and deep breathing, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, oxygen setup and administration, handheld nebulizer); vital signs; recognition, reporting, and intervention for life-threatening conditions
- Affirms physician-directed treatments such as eye irrigation, etc.
- Other unit-specific activities such as activities of daily living appropriate to the patient's condition
