About the role
This position involves providing direct nursing care within the Emergency Room, working under the supervision of RNs. The role encompasses delivering safe patient care, implementing and documenting individualized care plans, and assisting with tests, procedures, and emergency measures across diverse age groups including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, direct patient care following hospital and departmental policies
- Collaborate with healthcare team to develop and implement care plans, including discharge planning and patient education
- Assist with tests, procedures, and emergency interventions, ensuring proper consent and safety
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment
- Participate in staff training, orientation, and ongoing professional development
- Follow patient safety protocols, proactively identify risks, and report safety concerns or errors
- Assist with routine treatments, administer medications (excluding IV push), and monitor patient responses
- Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of equipment and supplies
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program and IV training
- Licensed Practical Nurse in NM or reciprocal licensing
- CPR/BLS certification within 30 days
- No minimum experience required, but up to 1 year of related experience preferred
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish or other languages are advantageous
- Physical ability to perform heavy work, including moving objects or patients, with PPE compliance in hazardous environments
