About the role
The Medicine Acute Care area provides acute, comprehensive inpatient care for patients suffering from a variety of medical diseases and surgical complications. Patient conditions include diabetes, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, wound care, and surgical cases (both pre- and post-operation). This team is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple medical and surgical disease complications.
The LPN is a member of the multidisciplinary ambulatory team responsible for patient care, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. The LPN performs duties for which they are trained, such as starting IVs, simple wound dressings, and notifying the RN or LIP of any changes or abnormalities in the patient's condition. This environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide acute inpatient care for patients with medical diseases and surgical complications
- Start IVs and perform simple wound dressings
- Monitor and report any changes or abnormalities in patients' conditions to the RN or LIP
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance patient outcomes
Requirements
- Active Kentucky Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
- American Heart Association BLS for the HealthCare Provider, valid for at least 6 months from hire date
- Ability to handle average weights or objects up to 25 pounds with some sitting, standing, or walking
Qualifications
- Required: LPN license
- Preferred: One year of LPN experience
Schedule
- Three 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Required to work some weekends and holidays
Pay
$21.40–$30.09 per hour
