LPN - Colorectal Surgery - Full-time Stamford

Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm onsite in Stamford

Major Accountabilities / Critical Responsibilities

• Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents patients' concerns, questions, etc...
• Accompanies patients to exam/procedure room and prepares them for physical exams.
• Initial patient interview; reviews patient medical profiles, and documents all required charting in EMR/manual charting as appropriate.
• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs, reports any abnormalities to physician.
• Aids with specimen collection and testing as necessary. Documents pertinent information.
• Assists patients as necessary, e.g., walking, transferring, dressing.
• Provides minor treatment as directed by physician, assists physicians with minor procedures.
• Provides education as indicated after evaluating the learning needs of the patient and/or family.
• As required, schedules patient testing and pre-certifies if insurance requires.
• Responds to telephone messages (patients, physician offices, etc...).
• End of month checks for expired supplies and medications. Stocks rooms/maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms. Orders supplies as needed.
• Cleans exam/procedure rooms after each patient. Prepares rooms for next patient and physician needs.
• Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follows up.
• Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participates in continuing education programs.
• Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with employees and other managers of the healthcare team.
• Respects and protects the patient's rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for the professional purposes which are in the patient's best interests with full consideration of their legal rights.
• Displays a positive attitude when interacting with physician's office staff, physicians, and fellow employees of the office.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid license as Licensed Practical Nurse in CT.
• BLS Certification.
• Excellent customer service / communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
