LPN – OB/GYN Clinic (Full-Time)

About the role

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their OBGYN Clinic. The LPN will supervise, direct, and monitor the clinical care assigned to them, administering medications, vaccines, and performing related duties.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates respect for patients and families.
• Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care.
• Applies the clinical process to each patient and implements clinical actions.
• Knowledge and ability to set up and assist with all surgical/diagnostic/treating procedures in the office.
• Aiding with daily tasks such as triaging and assisting patients during clinic hours.
• Scheduling diagnostic testing (CT, U/S, MRI, etc).
• Doing precertification for tests if needed.
• Calling patients to notify them of test details.
• Faxing orders and precertifications to the appropriate sites.
• Assisting with stocking rooms and ensuring supplies are available for daily tasks.
• Knowledge and assistance with ordering and refilling medications from the pharmacy.
• Entering accurate quality measures in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Maintaining confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient and organizational data.
• Living by Iberia Medical Center’s Standards of Performance.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Graduate of state-approved LPN school
• Current license as LPN in the state of Louisiana
• CPR training
• One year+ of clinical experience preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, physicians, staff, management, volunteers, and contract employees

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of the nursing process and nursing principles
• Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology

Skills

• Knowledge of how to properly sterilize, package, and label surgical instruments
• Knowledge of how to order medication from the pharmacy
