Responsible for
- Affirms quality nursing care to clinic patients as directed by physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Fulfills/shares the roles and responsibilities of rooming nurse, resource nurse, and clinical support nurse in the ambulatory patient care setting.
Essential Functions
- Assesses and implements patient care under supervision.
- Prepares patient for examination.
- Provides direct patient care.
- Auxiliaries provider with examination and treatment of patient as directed.
- Under the oversight of provider, may be responsible for telephone triage using age specific triage protocol books and computerized resources.
- Obtains and conveys information to and from patients, pharmacies, and other providers as directed and supervised by a licensed provider.
- Makes referrals for treatment as directed by provider.
- Documents patient care in health record according to department standards.
- Ensures own professional effectiveness through continued education and professional development.
Qualifications
- Education: Accredited State Board of Nursing LPN Program Required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year, Preferred: clinical experience as an LPN.
Credentials
- Required: Upon Hire Licensed Practical Nurse - Washington.
- Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Skills.
Working Conditions
- Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
- Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA).
- Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
- Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Mental/Visual Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
