Responsible for

  • Affirms quality nursing care to clinic patients as directed by physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Fulfills/shares the roles and responsibilities of rooming nurse, resource nurse, and clinical support nurse in the ambulatory patient care setting.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and implements patient care under supervision.
  • Prepares patient for examination.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Auxiliaries provider with examination and treatment of patient as directed.
  • Under the oversight of provider, may be responsible for telephone triage using age specific triage protocol books and computerized resources.
  • Obtains and conveys information to and from patients, pharmacies, and other providers as directed and supervised by a licensed provider.
  • Makes referrals for treatment as directed by provider.
  • Documents patient care in health record according to department standards.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through continued education and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Education: Accredited State Board of Nursing LPN Program Required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year, Preferred: clinical experience as an LPN.

Credentials

  • Required: Upon Hire Licensed Practical Nurse - Washington.
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Skills.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA).
  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Mental/Visual Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
