About the role
The Nurse will be responsible for delivering medical and nursing services to children and young adults in Damar's residential programs. They will work on the East campus located at 2000 Wernle Rd., Richmond, IN, and will provide services to clients who are conveniently located on the same campus.
Responsibilities
- Deliver medical and nursing services
- Administer client immunizations and track TB serum results
- Ensure accurate medication preparation and reconciliation
- Provide client and staff education on infection control, hygiene, medication side effects, and administration
- Monitor clients and communicate changes in their status to physicians
- Communicate and obtain consents for medication orders
- Perform assessments and send notifications according to policy
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in inter-disciplinary team meetings
- Complete and update mandatory training and licensure items
- Audit charts and update passports as assigned
Requirements
- Indiana nursing license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
- One year of experience working with neuropsychiatric or behavioral challenges and/or individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Knowledge of current trends and research in the use of psychotropic medications with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and a clean driving record meeting Damar’s insurance carrier’s requirements (for all positions requiring driving)
- Clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect, or other disqualifying criminal convictions
- Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening requirements
Qualifications
- Must be able to comply with safety and security policies and procedures, including accident and injury protocols
- Must be able to perform tasks such as assisting with physician assessments and managing follow-up orders
Skills
- Knowledge of current trends and research in the use of psychotropic medications with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Ability to manage and ensure timely follow-up and accuracy with transcription of orders
- Proficiency in verbal intervention and physical management techniques
