About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in our hospital, providing skilled nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This position integrates our core values into daily practice and supports our mission to transform lives.
Responsibilities
- Provides skilled nursing care to patients as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Implements orders for medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with the nursing care plan as written by the RN.
- Participates in the evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions in relation to patient responses and seeks guidance in redirection when necessary.
- Reports to supervisor on patient care rendered, problems concerning patients' needs, and resolution to those needs.
- Helps identify patient problems and potential risks and contributes to the development of interventions.
- Aids in identifying patient's learning needs and reinforces self-care and other techniques.
- Assists in the designation of applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital's established system.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
- Ensures an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assesses risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
- Complies with appropriate and approved safety and infection prevention standards.
Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: Two years’ experience in inpatient hospital setting, inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
- Required Licenses, Certifications, And/or Documentation: Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse required. Current BLS certification required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice and infection prevention standards of practice.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and utilizes proper policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patients.
