Job Description
Aid physicians and RNs in patient care. Key tasks include safely administering chemotherapy, disposing of biohazardous waste, collecting lab samples, and performing technical laboratory procedures.
- Mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents as directed by AON physicians.
- Accurately dispose of biohazardous waste according to OSHA and HRS guidelines.
- Obtain lab samples and perform technical laboratory procedures.
- Send specimens to appropriate facilities and maintain logs.
- Perform port access procedures and administer shots.
- Document treatments in OncoEMR and prepare superbills.
- Educate patients and families about medications and treatment plans.
- Triage telephone inquiries and assist with inventory management.
- Attend safety and OSHA training meetings and assist in training new employees.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse with IV therapy experience.
- Approved 30-hour IV certification course completed within 90 days of employment.
- CPR and BLS certification.
- Fluency in English with excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver's license for travel.
- Experience in clinic or hospital settings.
- Knowledge of Nucleus medication dispensing system.
