Lottery Sales Representative

About the role
The Minnesota State Lottery is seeking two highly motivated, well-organized individuals to promote lottery products as Lottery Sales Representatives serving out of the new Grand Rapids office. These positions serve assigned retailers that sell MN Lottery products, identify potential new businesses to recruit as retailers, and make sales presentations to business owners and managers to increase sales through training, promotions, and marketing recommendations. Representatives also work directly with the public at events to promote MN Lottery products.
The positions report to the North Region Sales Manager and have decision-making authority related to specific accounts. The office is located in Grand Rapids, MN, approximately 3 hours north of the Twin Cities Metro Area.
One position will service the following cities daily: Big Fork, Deer River, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, International Falls, and Virginia. The second position will service: Bagley, Baudette, Crookston, East Grand Forks, Roseau, Thief River Falls, and Warroad. Schedule
Typical working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required for special events or business needs. Shift starts and ends upon arrival and leaving the territory.
Pay
Salary range: $27.83 - $40.63 per hour; $58,109 - $84,835 annually.
Responsibilities
- Manage and service assigned retailers selling MN Lottery products.
- Identify and recruit potential new retailers within the territory.
- Make sales presentations to business owners and managers to increase sales through training, promotions, and marketing recommendations.
- Work directly with the public at events to promote MN Lottery products.
- Travel extensively within the assigned territory (close to 100% travel).
Requirements
- Two years of sales experience that includes territory management, product merchandising, and promotional experience. (Counter sales, sales of services, and delivery driving do not count.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Communications, or a related field may substitute for one year of sales experience; an Associate degree may substitute for six months of experience.
- Valid Class D Driver's License; a state-issued vehicle will be provided for business purposes.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprint check. The Minnesota State Lottery cannot hire individuals convicted of a felony or a crime involving fraud or misrepresentation within five years of employment, or anyone ever convicted of a gambling-related offense.
- Employment reference checks and SEMA4 records check (for current and former State of Minnesota employees).
- Driver’s license records verification.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally move articles up to 25–30 pounds.
- Frequently transport objects such as promotional materials and dispenser cases.
- May require moving or positioning of self to a significant degree or being in a stationary position for extended periods.
