Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners seeking mortgage assistance by responding to inbound inquiries, explaining available loss mitigation programs, and guiding borrowers through the application process.
  • Process new loss mitigation applications, follow up on missing documentation, manage trial payment plans, and communicate regularly with borrowers, authorized third parties, vendors, investors, and government agencies to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Make outbound calls, send correspondence, and document all borrower interactions within the mortgage servicing system while maintaining exceptional customer service throughout the loss mitigation process.
  • Maintain compliance with investor, insurer, regulatory, and state requirements throughout the life of each loss mitigation file.
  • Perform quality control reviews of Partial Claims, Loan Modifications, and other loss mitigation documents, prepare and process Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs), submit executed documents to HUD within required timeframes, file investor retention claims, and monitor active files to ensure all required milestones are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Assist with processing application intakes, posting funds, updating servicing records, managing workflow, and protecting UHC’s interests by coordinating with internal departments when property status changes occur.
  • Collaborate with team members across Mortgage Servicing to respond to borrower inquiries, support collection and default servicing efforts, and prepare for internal and external audits.
  • Identify potential compliance issues, recommend process improvements, maintain accurate servicing documentation, and ensure adherence to investor guidelines and company policies.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in mortgage servicing, collections, loss mitigation, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
